In the spring of 2021 Luthern Church of the Good Shepherd of Burlingame began its very first concert series. In Concert and Conversation audiences enjoy performances that are mixed with moderator led questions with the artists and the audience. It has been a personal mission of Artistic Director Michael Strelo-Smith to present works that show how the expressive arts intersect with issues of social justice.

The 2021 series showcased compositions by women and a discussion about how to be a better ally within our communities in Listen : Amplify. The cultural and personal perspective of Transnational adoption was presented by an adoptee in the emotionally charged I Am Not That Girl. The final piece of our inaugural season with Queer Liberation Theology: an Exploration of LGBTQIA+ Opression Through Song. This piece not only explored oppression and what it can do to those in the LGBTQIA+ community but also how it can shape society and one's relationship with God and spirituality.
